What is Sheet Metal Fabrication ?

Laser Cutting

Sheet Metal Fabrication is a classification of manufacturing processes that form metal sheets to the desired shape through material removal/deformation methods. Most processes uses sheet metal, which can be up to .25 inches thick and undergoes many steps from cutting and bending to surface treatment and assembly.

Sheet Metal Fabrication is cost effective over CNC manufacturing for thin metal parts for lightweight applications.

LASER CUTTING

Laser Cutting is a non-contact fabrication technique which cut materials utilizing laser beam projected on work-piece. The high power density results in rapid heating, melting and vaporization of material. The laser cutting process is highly accurate that yields excellent cut quality with very small heat affected zone and capable of cutting very complex shapes and small hole features.

BENDING & PUNCHING

Bending is metal forming process which is used to deform material to an angular shape through the application of force on a work-piece against die. In this case, material is stressed beyond the yield strength but below the ultimate tensile strength.

Punching refers to the process that uses a tool, called punch to create a hole via shearing.
